Supporters and commentators have questioned Díaz’s absence, noting that Jota publicly supported the Colombian in 2023 after the kidnapping of Díaz’s father. Díaz expressed his condolences on Instagram, writing that he had “no words” and that Jota’s gestures toward him were unforgettable, yet the social-media message has done little to quell criticism of what many perceive as a lack of solidarity.
