Real Madrid have decided that academy striker Gonzalo García will remain at the Santiago Bernabéu, declining all loan or permanent approaches after his standout displays at the FIFA Club World Cup. Head coach Xabi Alonso is understood to be satisfied with the 21-year-old’s progress and wants him in next season’s squad. Getafe president Angel Torres confirmed his club have pursued García for three years and hold a commitment to sign him should he ever leave Madrid, but acknowledged that the Spanish champions are not prepared to negotiate at this stage. Madrid’s planning extends beyond García. Sources close to Brazilian prospect Endrick say the teenager will also stay despite limited minutes last season. At left-back, Alvaro Carreras remains Alonso’s preferred recruit even after Fran Garcia’s strong Club World Cup, with the incumbent determined to fight for his place. Separately, the club does not intend to buy a replacement if winger Rodrygo is sold.
