Apple has made iterative changes to the Liquid Glass design feature in its upcoming iOS 26 software update. Initially introduced with a high degree of translucency, the Liquid Glass design faced user complaints over visibility and readability issues. In response, Apple dialed back the transparency in iOS 26 beta 3, making the interface elements appear more frosted and less glassy to enhance usability. However, this rollback drew some developer backlash. Subsequently, with the release of iOS 26 beta 4, Apple restored some of the original Liquid Glass transparency, reintroducing a more liquid-like appearance while continuing to refine the design. Alongside these visual adjustments, beta 4 also introduced AI-powered news summaries and other new features. The Liquid Glass design is inspired by Apple's Vision Pro visionOS and aims to refresh the iPhone's user interface while maintaining familiarity. The full iOS 26 update, including the Liquid Glass design, is expected to roll out in September to a range of iPhone models.
