A new application inspired by Microsoft's Clippy, the iconic paperclip assistant, has been developed to run large language models (LLMs) locally on users' devices without requiring cloud connectivity. This app allows users to load their own AI models, customize prompts, and interact with the assistant while maintaining privacy by avoiding telemetry and login requirements. Compatible with Windows and Mac, the Clippy-inspired desktop assistant offers a retro interface combined with modern AI capabilities, enabling offline inference powered by the user's GPU.
