Microsoft has begun testing Gaming Copilot, an artificial-intelligence assistant embedded in the Windows 11 Game Bar, with members of the Xbox Insiders program. The beta marks the first time the company’s Xbox Copilot technology, previously trialed on mobile devices, is integrated directly into PC gameplay. The tool recognises the title a user is playing and can draw on screenshots, achievements and play history to answer questions, suggest strategies and capture in-game images without forcing players to leave full-screen mode. Voice interaction is supported, allowing gamers to request help such as boss-fight tactics or character selection advice in real time. The preview is available only in English and restricted to the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Singapore and several other markets. Microsoft said it is working on broader regional and language support and is optimising the feature for forthcoming handheld hardware, including the Xbox-branded Ally device. Gaming Copilot is the latest component of Microsoft’s wider effort to weave generative AI into its consumer products, following the rollout of Copilot features across Windows, Office and the Bing search engine.
