OpenAI has expanded its Responses API with two new capabilities aimed at making it easier for software developers to integrate the company’s large-language-model services into their products. A new “Connectors” feature lets applications pull context from external sources—including Gmail, Google Calendar and Dropbox—in a single API call, reducing the need for bespoke integrations. A separate “Conversations” function allows developers to store and retrieve persistent chat threads without maintaining their own databases, simplifying session management for end-users. The upgraded toolkit, detailed in OpenAI’s documentation on 21–22 Aug., is designed to support more complex workflows such as customer-support agents and research assistants, and works with the company’s higher-capacity models. Pricing was not disclosed.
