OpenAI has unveiled significant updates to its ChatGPT desktop application for macOS, enhancing its integration with a variety of third-party apps. The update, part of OpenAI's '12 Days of Shipmas' event, allows ChatGPT to directly interact with coding and note-taking applications such as Apple Notes, Notion, and Xcode. This feature, known as 'Work with Apps', enables users to leverage ChatGPT's capabilities within these apps, improving productivity by providing contextual suggestions and automating tasks. The integration extends to Advanced Voice Mode, allowing voice interaction with these applications. Currently, these enhancements are available exclusively to macOS users on Plus, Pro, Team, Enterprise, and Edu plans, with plans to expand to Windows and free users in 2025.
