Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, has introduced a new proposal aimed at improving the transaction speed of the Ethereum network. In his latest blog post titled 'Epochs and slots all the way down,' Buterin discusses the complexities of Ethereum's current Gasper consensus mechanism, which uses a slot-and-epoch architecture. To address these challenges, Buterin proposes the Single-Slot Finality (SSF) mechanism, which is similar to Tendermint. This new approach aims to provide faster transaction confirmation times while maintaining stability and recovery within the Ethereum ecosystem. The SSF mechanism is expected to revolutionize Ethereum's transaction speed.
