Dr. Aadan Cabdullahi Aw-Xasan was elected Speaker of the House of Representatives of the North Eastern State of Somalia on August 23, 2025, securing 53 votes in a parliamentary election held in Las’anod. Following his election, he was congratulated by Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre and President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud. The Speaker and his deputies were officially sworn in, commencing their legislative mandate. Additionally, the Speaker of the Federal Parliament extended congratulations to the newly elected assembly leader.
