Major General Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani has been appointed as the new Director General of Perum Bulog, replacing Lieutenant General Novi Helmy Prasetya who has returned to active duty in the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI). The appointment was made by the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises, Erick Thohir, and the TNI has stated that the selection process complied with legal regulations. However, Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin has recommended that Rizal retire from military service before assuming his new role at Bulog. This suggestion has been echoed by other officials who emphasize the importance of processing Rizal's early retirement to address public concerns regarding military career management. In a related development, Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin proposed an additional defense budget allocation of 184 trillion Indonesian rupiah for the 2026 fiscal year. Meanwhile, in South Africa, Defense and Military Veterans Minister Angie Motshekga presented a R57 billion budget to Parliament, with approximately 64% earmarked for salaries of military personnel. Of this budget, R8.3 billion is designated for accommodation, leases, municipal services, peacekeeping, and emergency maintenance for soldiers.
