The Spanish National Commission on Markets and Competition (CNMC) has received a report from the Antitrust Authority (ACCO) regarding BBVA's takeover bid for Banco Sabadell. The ACCO has raised concerns about a 'high risk' associated with this acquisition. In response to the ongoing takeover situation, the Spanish government has renewed half of the CNMC's members. Additionally, the government is revising its banking tax in light of the BBVA-Sabadell deal. Meanwhile, a new energy tax has been approved, which includes a maximum 60% bonus for strategic investments, aimed at easing the burden on energy companies such as Iberdrola, Repsol, Endesa, and Naturgy. The government hopes these changes will attract support from political parties PNV and Junts.
