A series of cyberattacks have targeted multiple municipalities in Spain, particularly in the Community of Madrid, where hackers have blocked access to dozens of local government websites and demanded ransom payments. The attacks have prompted local authorities to deploy specialized teams, referred to as 'Men in Black', to respond to these incidents. In parallel, international ransomware groups have claimed responsibility for various attacks around the globe, including the Qilin group, which breached the Município de Chaves in Portugal, and the BlackBasta group, which compromised Grimaldi Alliance in Italy, exfiltrating approximately 1.5 TB of sensitive corporate data. Additionally, the ThreeAM group attacked Kurita America in the United States, while the Bashe group targeted Bank BRI in Indonesia, threatening to release personal and financial data unless ransoms are paid by December 23. The situation highlights the growing trend of ransomware attacks affecting both local governments and private companies worldwide.
