The Ibex 35 index has experienced a notable upward trend in early August 2025, reaching levels not seen since 2007-2008. Starting the week with a 1.06% increase, the index approached 14,700 points, marking its highest level in over 17 years. It continued to climb, surpassing 14,800 points midweek and achieving a weekly gain of approximately 5%, its best performance in four months. Despite a brief midday dip on August 11, the index closed above 14,850 points. By August 12, the Ibex 35 had extended its positive streak to seven consecutive sessions, the longest since May, and opened above 14,900 points, buoyed by a recent US-China trade agreement. Key contributors to the gains included IAG and Repsol, while BBVA was among the leading decliners. The index remains close to the 15,000-point mark, which it has yet to surpass.
