WWE confirmed during the July 4 episode of SmackDown that Tiffany Stratton will put her WWE Women’s Championship on the line against Hall of Famer Trish Stratus at the Evolution 2 pay-per-view next Sunday. Official graphics released by the company show the bout as the event’s headline women’s match. Stratton, who was given the right to select her challenger, introduced Stratus after being confronted by Queen of the Ring winner Jade Cargill. The 48-year-old Stratus told the crowd that the all-women’s Evolution card represents the progress she once fought for and that her children have never seen her compete as champion. The contest will be Stratus’s first singles match since her brief 2023 comeback and follows a February tag-team win alongside Stratton at Elimination Chamber. Stratton won the vacant Women’s Championship in May and is also slated to meet Cargill at SummerSlam, adding stakes to her defense against the seven-time former titleholder.
