Brightwave Inc. has launched a platform that deploys fleets of specialized autonomous agents to produce long-form research reports on virtually any subject, moving the San Francisco-based startup beyond its original focus on financial analysis. The system interprets a user’s request, devises a research plan and then assigns dedicated search, reasoning, planning, presentation and fact-checking agents to compile the material. Once the agents complete their work, the output is reviewed by an independent large-language-model “judge” that tests whether the report satisfies pre-set criteria, mirroring unit-testing in software development. Chief Executive Officer Mike Conover said the approach aims to keep AI “laser-focused on deliverables,” reducing the need for close human supervision while ensuring accuracy. Brightwave attracted attention in October 2024 when it raised $15 million in seed funding to automate financial research. By widening its scope, the company is pitching the agentic platform to clients in real estate, energy and other sectors looking for rapid, data-rich analysis without manual synthesis.
