The Worldcoin Foundation has launched a developer preview for its new Layer-2 protocol, World Chain, on July 9, 2024. This blockchain, designed for human-centric applications, is now open for developers to start building on the network. World Chain, built using the OP Stack and secured by Ethereum, aims to be permissionless, open source, and community-governed. The integration into Optimism’s Superchain network is expected to enhance scalability. The developer preview is a precursor to the mainnet launch, which is anticipated later this summer. World Chain is launching with over 10 million users. The project is spearheaded by Sam Altman.
