Y Combinator’s Summer 2025 cohort has produced The Prompting Company, a startup that helps consumer-facing products appear in answers generated by large-language-model chatbots such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT. The San Francisco-based firm analyzes the questions users direct at AI assistants, identifies gaps where a client’s brand is absent, and then creates content and AI-optimized landing pages to boost visibility. Co-founders Kevin Chandra, Albert Purnama and Michelle Wirantono previously built the no-code website generator Typedream, sold last year to newsletter platform Beehiiv, and passwordless-authentication tool Cotter, acquired by Stytch. The trio says the shift from traditional web search toward conversational AI makes brand placement inside chatbot responses critical for customer acquisition. As part of the launch, the company is offering a free “AI visibility report” that benchmarks how often products surface in ChatGPT answers.
