Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) experienced a reversal in early August 2025 after seven consecutive weeks of inflows, recording $643 million in net outflows from July 28 to August 1. This trend continued with a third and fourth consecutive day of outflows on August 4 and 5, totaling $323.5 million and $196.2 million respectively. However, inflows resumed on August 7 and 8, with $91.5 million and $281 million respectively. Ethereum ETFs, led by BlackRock's ETHA, maintained positive momentum with $154 million inflows during the week ending August 1, marking 12 straight weeks of gains. Despite this, on August 4, Ethereum ETFs saw their largest single-day net outflow of $465.1 million, the highest since their inception, before rebounding with $222 million inflows on August 8. BlackRock notably purchased $103 million worth of Ethereum during this period. The inflows into Ethereum ETFs on August 8 represented a purchase of approximately 60,390 ETH, which was 23 times the net new ETH issuance of about 2,565 ETH on the same day. These ETF activities reflect dynamic investor behavior amid ongoing cryptocurrency market fluctuations.
