Canary Capital, in partnership with the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE), has filed a 19b-4 form with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to list and trade the Canary PENGU ETF. This ETF is notable for being the first of its kind to combine the Solana-based memecoin $PENGU and Pudgy Penguins NFTs, marking it as the second memecoin-style ETF to enter SEC review after Dogecoin (DOGE). The filing was internally approved by CBOE on June 10, 2025, and the SEC officially acknowledged the application in early July 2025. Following the SEC acknowledgment, $PENGU experienced a surge in market activity, becoming the largest daily gainer among the top 100 cryptocurrencies and achieving a market capitalization exceeding $2 billion. The token has seen over 100% growth in seven days, with increased retail trading volume, smart money inflows, and notable support from major crypto platforms such as Coinbase and exchanges in Canada including Bitbuy and Coinsquare. The Pudgy Penguins NFT floor price also rose by approximately 50% in the same period. The ETF comprises roughly 90% $PENGU tokens and 10% Pudgy Penguins NFTs, and its approval could be imminent. Additionally, the Pudgy Penguins ecosystem launched a real-time tracking platform called Pengu World to monitor mindshare, holder count, and partnerships. Market analysts and influencers have highlighted $PENGU's rapid growth and potential to reach new price milestones, with some suggesting it could break into the top ranks of memecoins and cryptocurrencies overall.
