Recent market data indicate fluctuating imbalances in major U.S. stock indices and leading technology stocks. The S&P 500, NASDAQ 100, Dow 30, and the MAG 7 group of large-cap tech stocks have shown varying levels of market-on-close (MOC) and market-on-open (MOO) imbalances over April 15-17, 2025. For instance, on April 15, the S&P 500 recorded an MOC imbalance of approximately 2.1 billion shares, while the NASDAQ 100 had about 1 billion shares. Conversely, the Dow 30 showed a smaller imbalance near 699 million shares, and the MAG 7 group had around 513 million shares. On April 16, the NASDAQ 100's MOC imbalance rose to 1.7 billion shares, with the MAG 7 also increasing to approximately 918 million shares. However, the Dow 30 showed a negative imbalance of about 94 million shares. By April 17, the MOO imbalances were mixed, with the S&P 500 at 605 million shares, NASDAQ 100 at 17 million, Dow 30 at 106 million, and MAG 7 slightly negative at -1.7 million shares. Technical analysis noted the completion of DeMark 13 sequential counts for several key ETFs and stocks including SPY, AMZN, and ARKK, suggesting improving technical conditions despite recent selling pressure. Additionally, the MAG 7 stocks—Amazon (AMZN), Nvidia (NVDA), Microsoft (MSFT), Tesla (TSLA), Meta (META), Google (GOOG), and Apple (AAPL)—have collectively completed a dark-cross technical pattern, with the S&P 500 leading the trend and the NASDAQ 100 following earlier in the week. Market breadth charts and performance tables have been updated through April 16, reflecting these developments.
