Former U.S. President Donald Trump said in a 5 Aug. interview with CNBC that JPMorgan Chase and Bank of America declined to keep him as a client after he left the White House, a decision he described as politically motivated discrimination against conservatives. Trump told the network that JPMorgan “fired” him despite his maintaining “hundreds of millions of dollars” at the bank. He added that Bank of America chief executive Brian Moynihan personally refused to take his deposits. As a result, Trump said he moved sums of $5 million to $12 million into multiple smaller lenders around the country. JPMorgan Chase & Co. and Bank of America Corp. shares fell about 0.4% in U.S. pre-market trading following the comments. The banks had not immediately responded to requests for comment during the broadcast.
