U.S. crude futures edged higher at the start of the week, with the September West Texas Intermediate contract settling 8 cents, or 0.13%, higher at $63.96 a barrel on Monday. Global benchmark Brent for October delivery added 4 cents, or 0.06%, to finish at $66.63. Monday’s modest gains follow last week’s mixed performance. On Friday Brent closed at $66.59, up 0.24%, after dropping 0.69% to $66.43 on Thursday. WTI ended Thursday at $63.88, down 0.73%, before recovering slightly. Refined-products prices were also steady. ICE August gasoil settled at $670.50 a ton, while NYMEX September diesel and gasoline closed at $2.2910 and $2.0766 a gallon, respectively. September natural-gas futures finished at $2.9540 per million British thermal units.
