Roger Federer has joined the small club of athlete-billionaires, with the Bloomberg Billionaires Index estimating the retired tennis champion’s net worth at about $1.3 billion. The 20-time Grand Slam winner earned $130.6 million in prize money during his 24-year career, but most of his fortune stems from off-court deals and investments. Federer’s largest single asset is a roughly 3% stake in Swiss sneaker maker On Holding AG, valued at no less than $500 million after the company’s market capitalisation approached $17 billion. He also secured a $300 million, 10-year apparel agreement with Japan’s Fast Retailing Co.’s Uniqlo in 2018, supplementing decades-long sponsorships with Rolex, UBS and chocolatier Lindt. The Swiss player is now one of only a handful of sports stars whose wealth exceeds ten figures, alongside Michael Jordan, whose fortune is estimated at $3.5 billion, and golfer Tiger Woods at about $1.36 billion. Federer, who retired in 2022, continues to leverage his brand through his management firm Team8 and investment vehicle Format A AG while keeping a low public profile.
