
Databricks has launched DBRX, a new open-source large language model with impressive capabilities. DBRX boasts 132 billion total parameters, of which 36 billion are active at any given time. It outperforms established models like Llama 2 and Mixtral on various benchmarks. The model, based on a Mixture of Experts architecture, offers a context size of up to 32K tokens and is designed for efficient open-source use. DBRX has been developed over several months, costing around $10 million, and is positioned as a significant advancement in the AI field.
