The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) is intensifying its scrutiny of artificial intelligence (AI) content deals, particularly those involving major tech companies. Jonathan Kanter, the DOJ's chief antitrust enforcer, has warned that tech companies could face regulatory action if they do not find ways to fairly compensate artists, entertainers, and other creators. The DOJ is closely monitoring agreements that AI companies, including OpenAI, have been making with content creators. This increased examination, which was highlighted on May 30 and May 31, aims to ensure that these deals do not violate antitrust laws and that creators receive fair compensation for their work.
