LiveKit has successfully raised $22.5 million in a Series A funding round to develop infrastructure for real-time voice and video-driven AI applications. The funding will support the creation of a transport layer for AI, enabling seamless integration of real-time voice and video into applications. The investment round was led by Altimeter and included participation from notable investors such as Redpoint, Jeff Dean, Elad Gil, Arav Srinivas, and Amjad Masad. LiveKit's technology, spearheaded by CEO Russ and CTO Davidzh, is already powering advanced AI applications like ChatGPT and Omni, providing the necessary infrastructure for low-latency, voice-interfaced AI solutions. The company aims to build the future of AI interfaces, making real-time communication a fundamental aspect of human-computer interaction. LiveKit is considered the 'brain' of AI applications, facilitating seamless real-time interaction.

AI devs… Get familiar with LiveKit. Realtime is the future. I’m going to have a bunch of OSS templates up in the very near future for anyone interested in building realtime AI apps like you saw in the GPT-4o demos! https://t.co/Byfy4GHLi7
