OpenAI has announced the formation of a new Safety and Security Committee as it begins training its next-generation AI model, which will succeed the GPT-4 technology that powers ChatGPT. The committee will be led by CEO Sam Altman, along with board members Bret Taylor, Adam D’Angelo, and Nicole Seligman, and will include six employees. The new model aims to advance capabilities and bring the company closer to achieving Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). The training process is expected to take nine months or more. This move comes after the dissolution of OpenAI's previous oversight board and amidst rising concerns about AI safety and security, following an employee revolt.
