Red Hat is intensifying its focus on artificial intelligence by integrating generative AI technologies across its product suite, including OpenShift, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), and various developer tools. The company announced the launch of RHEL AI, aimed at fostering open-source large language models (LLMs) and introduced InstructLab, a community-driven project to enhance AI models. Red Hat's strategy emphasizes the democratization of AI development through open-source contributions, as highlighted at the Red Hat Summit. Key developments include the expansion of the Lightspeed generative AI tool to OpenShift and Enterprise Linux, the introduction of InstructAI software, which allows business users to modify existing AI models and add new company-specific information using synthetic data, and updates to OpenShift AI in version 2.9. The company also launched Podman AI Lab. CEO Matt Hicks emphasized that AI development will be increasingly open-source, stating, 'It won’t be built by a single vendor, using a single model.'
