Novak Djokovic opened his 2025 US Open campaign with a 6-1, 7-6, 6-2 victory over American teenager Learner Tien on Sunday night in New York. The 24-time major champion required a short visit from a tournament physiotherapist after clinching the second set in a tiebreak, but he returned to court without further incident and closed out the match in two hours and 15 minutes. The straight-sets win marked Djokovic’s 27th match victory of the season and his first competitive appearance since his runner-up finish at Wimbledon in July. Despite periods of rust and extended time between points, the world No. 1 converted five of 11 break opportunities and saved all three break points he faced to reach the second round.
