Mattel Inc. is adding Venus Williams to its Barbie Inspiring Women Series, honoring the seven-time Grand Slam champion for her on-court accomplishments and her role in securing equal prize money for women at Wimbledon in 2007. The doll, dressed in the white outfit and green-gem necklace Williams wore during her fifth Wimbledon title run, also comes with a tennis racket, ball and wristband. The Venus Williams Barbie will be available on Mattel’s online store starting Aug. 15 at a suggested retail price of $38. The release follows a one-of-a-kind Williams doll issued in May 2024 as part of Barbie’s 65th-anniversary tribute to trailblazing female athletes. Williams said she hopes the new doll encourages young people "to dream big, know their worth, and pursue their goals with confidence."
