Authorities conducted search operations at Lake Lavon in North Texas after Juan Omar Chaidez, an off-duty Dallas Fire-Rescue firefighter, went missing while kayaking over the weekend of June 21-22, 2025. Multiple agencies participated in the search after Chaidez's dog was seen paddling near his kayak without any sign of him. On June 23, officials recovered Chaidez's body from Lake Lavon. Separately, on June 29-30, authorities recovered the body of a 28-year-old man from Lake Lewisville after he went underwater and did not resurface. The man was identified as a Mississippi resident. Both incidents involved extensive search efforts by local agencies.
