Comedy Central has shifted “South Park” to a bi-weekly release pattern for the remainder of its 27th season, according to network confirmations reported by Deadline, USA Today and IGN. The fourth episode will now air on Sept. 3, with the 10-episode season set to wrap after roughly 20 weeks, around Dec. 10. The change follows three instalments released since the July 23 premiere, each separated by a one-week break. Creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have devoted the new season to an unflattering portrayal of President Donald Trump, depicting a militarised Washington, D.C., Vice-President J.D. Vance as a toddler and Homeland Security chief Kristi Noem overseeing immigration raids. The latest episode, “Sickofancy,” shows tech leaders—including Apple’s Tim Cook and Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg—queuing outside the Oval Office with lavish gifts while Trump’s character basks in praise. A White House spokesperson dismissed the series as a “fourth-rate show” in remarks to Rolling Stone. The controversy has boosted viewership. Episode two drew 6.2 million global viewers across platforms, the show’s strongest performance since 2018, and posted a 1.531 rating in the 18-49 cable demographic—up 54 percent from the season opener. Production sources told Deadline the slower cadence gives writers more time to incorporate fast-moving political events, a trade-off Paramount is embracing as the extended schedule keeps the series in the cultural conversation for twice as long.
Deadline reports that South Park will continue to release episodes every other week for the remainder of the season, which has drawn some of the series' best-ever ratings, as well as global attention, for their no-holds-barred depiction of President Donald Trump. https://t.co/o5bbuZeoM2
They’re all trying to out sycophant each other. Never seen anything more pathetic in my life. And for Trump of all people! https://t.co/msu8Q2nm6v
