European Union foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said EU governments broadly back widening the bloc’s military training mission so it can operate on Ukrainian soil once a cease-fire is in place. The current mission provides instruction to Ukrainian forces outside the country. Kallas added that any decision to deploy national troops to Ukraine would remain at the discretion of individual member states rather than being mandated by Brussels. Her comments came after Russian missile strikes on Kyiv killed civilians and damaged the EU Delegation. In response, EU ministers agreed to speed up deliveries of military aid and ammunition to Kyiv.
