West Wendover, Nevada, canceled its Independence Day fireworks after an early-morning accident on 3 Mile Mountain triggered an unintended detonation of pyrotechnics. City officials said several people were hurt, including at least one firefighter who sustained non-life-threatening injuries and received medical treatment on Friday. Mayor Jasie Holm said the decision to scrap the evening display was made out of “an abundance of caution” while investigators work to determine how the fireworks ignited.
