U.S. Marshals Service Director Gadyaces Serralta on 25 Aug 2025 presented President Donald Trump with an honorary Marshals Service badge and a ceremonial handcuff key during a meeting in the Oval Office. The presentation was meant to acknowledge what Serralta described as the administration’s efforts to “un-handcuff” law-enforcement officers nationwide. Handing the badge to the president, Serralta said, “You continue, through your policies and your efforts, to un-handcuff law-enforcement officers all over this nation, and I can tell you personally that they thank you for that.” Honorary badges are symbolic and do not confer law-enforcement authority.
