White House Trade Adviser Navarro: Letters and deals cover almost 90% of our trade deficit
WHITE HOUSE TRADE COUNSELOR PETER NAVARRO SAID IN A FOX BUSINESS INTERVIEW THAT THE CURRENT LETTERS AND TRADE DEALS ACCOUNT FOR NEARLY 90% OF THE U.S. TRADE DEFICIT.
White House Trade Counselor Peter Navarro said the administration’s pending letters of agreement and recently concluded trade deals now address nearly 90% of the United States’ overall trade deficit. Speaking in an interview with Fox Business, Navarro described the coverage level as evidence that the administration’s negotiating strategy is gaining traction across multiple trading partners. Navarro added that tariffs imposed by the United States are generating “billions upon billions of dollars,” money he said could be redirected to domestic priorities. He did not specify which countries or sectors are covered by the latest agreements, nor did he provide a timetable for closing the remaining gap in the deficit.
