Bo Hines is stepping down as executive director of the White House Crypto Council, ending an 18-month tenure in which he helped shape the Trump administration’s digital-asset agenda. Hines will leave the post to return to the private sector but will stay on as a special government employee, focusing part-time on artificial-intelligence projects led by technology investor David Sacks. Deputy director Patrick Witt is expected to take over leadership of the council, according to people familiar with the transition. The shake-up comes weeks before the administration is due to release a long-anticipated update to its digital-asset policy framework, making continuity at the council a priority. Before joining the White House, Hines was a partner at a growth-equity firm.
