The Texas Supreme Court has reinstated a nursing home's appeal against a $7.1 million injury verdict awarded to one of its employees, ruling that the nursing home demonstrated it did not have actual notice of the judgment. Separately, a jury awarded more than $4 million in damages to a mother and daughter who were attacked while staying at an EconoLodge hotel in Longmont in 2023. The award followed a civil lawsuit after hotel staff gave an intoxicated ex-partner keys to the victim's room, leading to the incident. The Longmont EconoLodge was found liable, and the damages awarded to the victim amounted to $4.5 million.
