Coinbase Global has added World Liberty Financial’s dollar-pegged stablecoin USD1 to its exchange, giving U.S. customers a third on-platform option alongside Circle’s USDC and Tether’s USDT. Trading and transfers opened on 21 Aug. in regions where Coinbase is licensed, and the asset is now visible on the company’s iOS and Android apps. USD1 is an ERC-20 token on the Ethereum network. Coinbase warned that deposits sent over other blockchains may be lost, reflecting its standard asset-listing risk notice. The exchange said the move aligns with its strategy of supporting the digital assets most requested by users. World Liberty Financial—backed by President Donald Trump and his sons—has rapidly expanded USD1’s circulation. The issuer minted an additional $205 million this week, lifting outstanding supply to roughly $2.4 billion, much of which originated from a $2 billion investment by Abu Dhabi sovereign wealth fund MGX. The listing comes weeks after the GENIUS Act, the federal law that set a regulatory framework for U.S.-issued stablecoins, was signed in July. Beyond the stablecoin, World Liberty plans to unlock 20% of its WLFI governance token for early investors and begin exchange trading on 1 Sept. The company has not yet disclosed which venues will list the token.
