U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has received over 110,000 job applications in less than two weeks following a nationwide recruitment campaign launched by the Trump administration. The drive aims to hire 10,000 new agents to expand ICE's personnel for increased immigration enforcement and deportation efforts. The recruitment surge was enabled by funding from the administration’s legislation known as the Big Beautiful Bill. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem highlighted the strong public support for the initiative, emphasizing the desire of many Americans to join ICE in its mission to deport dangerous criminal illegal aliens and enhance border security. Noem also defended ICE detention facilities, stating that their standards are the highest in the country and noting that 70% of detainees face criminal charges. Concurrently, ICE detention numbers have risen to over 60,000 individuals. The recruitment campaign included waiving the agency’s age requirement to broaden the applicant pool.
