Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) has opened applications for the fifth cohort of its Speedrun program, SR005, targeting startups at the intersection of technology, entertainment, and artificial intelligence. The program, which will run from July 29 to October 10, 2025, in Santa Monica, Los Angeles, offers up to $1 million in investment for each selected company. The Speedrun initiative is designed to support pre-seed and seed stage startups, with a focus on those building in areas such as AI, creative technologies, and entertainment. The application deadline is set for May 11, 2025, and selected founders will have the opportunity to work closely with a16z's team and a network of industry mentors. The program culminates in a Demo Day on October 7 during SF Tech Week, where less than 1% of applicants are accepted. Since 2023, a16z has deployed over $100 million to more than 120 startups through Speedrun. Josh Lu, Principal at a16z, stated, 'Speedrun is designed for founders who aren’t just following trends—they’re defining them. We’re backing some of the most ambitious entrepreneurs building AI-first products, next-gen entertainment, and entirely new interactive experiences. Our goal is to provide more than just capital; we’re creating a launchpad where founders receive access to a16z’s deep networks, hands-on mentorship, and most importantly a community of ambitious builders that accelerates their success.' In addition to the Speedrun announcement, NetMind AI has entered into a strategic partnership with UOB Venture Management and Signum Capital, securing a $700,000 investment. This partnership aims to enhance the development of practical AI use cases across various industries.
