Alex Konrad, a former Forbes journalist with 12 years of experience covering startups and tech, has launched Upstarts Media, a new tech media brand focused on the startup ecosystem. The platform aims to cover startups from inception through their initial public offerings (IPOs). Upstarts Media will operate as an independent media company and events business, emphasizing community-driven content. It will publish a newsletter, videos, and a podcast, and host events. The company has partnered with Substack as its publishing platform and plans to start publishing twice weekly from the first week of April. The branding was created by designer Mark Yocca. The initiative includes a paywall-free weekly edition supported by sponsors, with Brex as the launch partner. Paid subscribers will receive additional content focused on established startups, venture capital trends, and early access to events, with a 20% discount for the first year. Founding Upstarts members will have access to exclusive perks, including a private WhatsApp group moderated by Alex, invitations to meetups, and the first 15 Founding Upstarts will receive an invite to a launch party in New York, organized by Alex's wife and COO of their family, Natalie Sportelli.
