Genesis AI, a robotics software startup, has emerged from stealth with $105 million in seed funding co-led by Eclipse Ventures and Khosla Ventures. The company aims to develop a universal robotics foundation model by generating its own synthetic data to train AI models for robots. This funding round includes both U.S. and Chinese investors, which is notable given the current geopolitical tensions in the industry. Separately, a team of former engineers from Waymo has launched Bedrock Robotics, securing $80 million in funding to automate construction sites. Bedrock Robotics plans to retrofit construction vehicles with sensor-compute autonomy kits designed to operate continuously on large projects, targeting the heavy construction market with autonomous technology.
