Sonae, the parent company of the retail brands MO and Zippy, has sold these businesses to a consortium led by the current CEO of MO, Francisco Pimentel, and the investment fund Mercúrio, managed by Oxy Capital. The transaction, structured as a management buyout (MBO), was supported by the law firm Morais Leitão and valued at 20 million euros. This move marks Sonae's return to MBO transactions, transferring ownership of MO and Zippy to the existing management team and their financial partners.
