U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration Administrator Terry Cole said the agency expects a decline in fentanyl poisonings this year, crediting President Donald Trump’s border-security initiatives and what he described as record-level cooperation from Mexico. Cole, speaking at an agency briefing, also called Venezuela a “narco-terrorist state,” accusing it of sending fentanyl that “kills hundreds of thousands of Americans” and dispatching TdA gang members to the United States. He did not provide detailed projections or data on the anticipated reduction in overdose deaths.
