The Venezuelan government, led by President Nicolás Maduro, has imposed a nationwide ban on the use, sale, purchase, and training of drones for an initial period of 30 days, with the possibility of extension. This prohibition applies to all drones, including remotely piloted aircraft (RPA) and aeromodels, except for those operated by state security and defense forces. The measure was announced on August 18, 2025, through an Extraordinary Official Gazette (No. 6,927) issued by the Ministry of Transport. The ban comes amid escalating tensions between Venezuela and the United States, following U.S. President Donald Trump's decision to raise the bounty on Maduro to $50 million over alleged narcotics-related activities.
