Polish studio One More Level, best known for the cyberpunk action title “Ghostrunner,” unveiled its next project, “Valor Mortis,” during the Gamescom 2025 Opening Night Live pre-show. The single-player game is described as a first-person Soulslike set in an alternate-history Eastern Europe at the height of Napoleon’s campaign. Publisher Lyrical Games said the title is slated for release in 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC, with a closed playtest planned in the weeks following Gamescom. In the game, players assume the role of William, a resurrected French soldier whose body is bound to a plague-like substance called Nephtoglobin. “With Valor Mortis, we wanted to try something new and original—a darker experience, while still offering players a true challenge,” One More Level chief executive Szymon Bryla said in a statement. The studio promises precise melee combat, limited-ammo firearms and Metroidvania-style level design, aiming to adapt the punishing hallmarks of the Soulslike genre to a fully first-person perspective.
