U.S. President Donald Trump will host the leaders of Gabon, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mauritania and Senegal in Washington next week, the White House confirmed. The three-day gathering, scheduled for 9–11 July, marks Trump’s first Africa-focused summit since the start of his second term and will open with discussions and a working lunch at the White House on 9 July. A White House official said the talks will centre on "commercial opportunities" that the administration believes can deliver mutual benefits. Semafor and Africa Intelligence earlier reported that critical mineral supply chains and West Africa’s security outlook are expected to feature prominently on the agenda. The meeting comes as the administration reshapes U.S. policy toward the continent, shifting from traditional aid programmes to an emphasis on trade and investment. Officials have signalled that U.S. envoys will be judged on the business deals they secure, and a broader U.S.–Africa summit is being planned for September on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.
