The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has announced that it will halt the processing of petitions aimed at the removal of Supreme Court judges, following court orders that bar such actions. The JSC stated it will defend its mandate in court. This decision comes amid ongoing legal challenges involving former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, whose impeachment petitions are currently on hold pending an appeal. The Court of Appeal has suspended hearings in 40 cases related to Gachagua, including Civil Appeal No. E829 of 2024 and E022 of 2025, which involve multiple parties. The JSC reiterated its commitment to adhere to the law and follow court directives regarding the petitions against the judges.
