Among these companions is Ani, a gothic anime girl who functions as a digital girlfriend, capable of flirting, joking, sharing memes, and remembering users' names. Ani also includes an opt-in NSFW mode that allows explicit content. The launch of these AI companions has sparked discussions around safety, particularly concerning minors and potential misuse. In response to such concerns, Musk announced a separate app called Baby Grok, designed specifically for children. Baby Grok aims to provide kid-friendly, educational, and safe AI interactions, focusing on content appropriate for younger users. The app is positioned as an assistant for children's learning needs and is expected to launch as a distinct application from the main Grok chatbot. Additional AI companions, such as Bad Rudy and the upcoming Valentine—characterized as a romantic and warm AI persona—are also part of Grok's evolving offerings. The Grok AI companions are powered by the Grok-4 model and are available through the Grok iOS app.
